SDB Asia scores Top Boutique Development win with latest project, Myra
Myra, an 85-unit boutique development just across the road from the Potong Pasir MRT Station, has emerged as the sole winner of the Top Boutique Development in this year’s Completed category of the EdgeProp Singapore Excellence Awards 2024.
It sits on a 30,689 sq ft freehold plot at the corner of Meyappa Chettiar Road and Woodsville Close. It is an amalgamation of 17 smaller lots which Malaysia-listed boutique developer Selangor Dredging Bhd (SDB) purchased en bloc for $60 million in July 2018.
The project reflects SDB Asia’s commitment to developing award-winning, boutique freehold properties in established neighbourhoods within the prime Core Central Region (CCR) and the city fringe, or Rest of Central Region (RCR).

The swimming pool and landscaped garden by Aspex of Design, a master planner and landscape architecture firm
SDB Asia, the international property arm of SDB, first ventured into Singapore in 2006. Its first project was the 22-unit Jia, a freehold condo on Wilkie Road. The prime District 9 project was launched in June 2008 and completed in 2011.
Myra, a 12-storey apartment block, was designed by the award-winning UK architecture firm Pitman Tozer Architects in collaboration with Singapore-based JGP Architecture. The landscape design is by Aspex of Design, a master planner and landscape architecture firm. The interior design is by SuMisura. The project’s name, Myra, is derived from “Palmyra”, a tall fan-leaf palm native to India.
Completed in April, the project scored highly for its design and landscaping, which emphasise livability and biophilic design principles by incorporating natural elements and features. The façade has distinctive horizontal bands in varying shades of champagne and muted gold, which provide solar shading in addition to aesthetic appeal. The landscaping follows a tropical rainforest theme, with abundant natural light, greenery and organic elements throughout.

Launched in September 2020 during the pandemic, the project was entirely sold by October 2023. It has a mix of one- to four-bedroom units housed in a single block of 12 storeys, with sizes from 474 sq ft to 1,324 sq ft. Prices of units sold ranged from over $1 million ($2,122 psf) for a 474 sq ft one-bedder to $3.08 million ($2,345 psf) for a 1,313 sq ft four-bedroom unit on the 12th floor.
Its location in District 13 of the RCR is sought after by singles, young couples and families. Poiz Centre mall and the adjacent Potong Pasir MRT Station are just a two-minute walk away via a sheltered walkway.
Myra is within 1km of St Andrew’s Junior and Secondary School, which is located at St Andrew’s Village, as well as Bendemeer Primary School. Other nearby schools include Cedar Primary and Secondary, Maris Stella High School, and Stamford America International School.

One of the communal landscaped nooks for residents to enjoy
In addition to Poiz Centre, Myra is near other shopping malls, such as The Woodleigh Mall, The Venue Shoppes, and Nex. The Kallang Park Connector is just 260m away, and Bidadari Park and Aljunied Park are nearby.
Further down Serangoon Road in District 12 is another SDB Asia project, Jui Residences. This project is a redevelopment of the site that SDB Asia purchased from the National Aerated Water Company for $47 million in December 2016.
While Jui Residences is a newly built, 18-storey apartment block with 117 units, the former National Aerated Water Building was constructed in 1954 and has been conserved.
The 12-storey block at the corner of Meyappa Chettiar Road and Woodsville Close has 85 units
Jui Residences was completed in September 2021 and has won multiple awards, including the Top Development Award for a mixed-use completed development at the EdgeProp Excellence Awards 2022, followed by the Landscape Excellence Award in 2023.
While Jui Residences was the sixth development by SDB Asia in Singapore, Myra is its eighth and latest award-winning development.
